Home-Made Baby Food! Reasons Why I Prepare All Of My Son’s Meals

Weaning your child is a major milestone and deciding to home make your baby’s meals is a journey. I personally enjoy making Baby E’s food and highly advice mummies out there to try making their little munchkin’s meals if possible. Here are some reasons why I make my baby’s food:

  • I know what is exactly in my baby’s food. If you look at the ingredient of some store bought baby food you many find more than one ingredient that you can’t even pronounce.
  • It is fresher because once I make any meal it is consumed within 3 days if not less. I don’t make large quantities. Some of the baby foods in stores are on the shelves for weeks or even months before a customer buys it.
  • I have the time to make his food, I’m blessed to be able to take time off from everything to connect with my baby and enjoy all the little things and milestones during his first year of life. I understand that this is a luxury that not all mothers enjoy. I know that a reason some mothers buy baby food from the store is because they just don’t have the time, maybe because of work or catering to more than one child. I could imagine how challenging it could be taking care of baby E and cooking his food while I had a toddler running around.
  • It is made with love. This is the main reason I actually enjoy making his food because I feel like I’m putting the effort in to give him something healthy and yummy. I definitely get inspiration from store baby food to look at different combinations and get more ideas to make food interesting. I believe every mother does what she believes is best for her children whether you choose to make your own baby food or buy it ready made.

Weaning is such an interesting journey I hope that no one spoils it for you and your baby by their irrelevant opinion about what is best. Even though I make most of baby E’s food we still sometimes have problems with constipation because some vegetables’ and fruits do that.

Some mummies don’t introduce dairy products during the first year, some mummies don’t introduce peanut butter and some mummies give their babies chocolate before their first birthday. Trust your motherly instinct. No mother loves her children more than the other; we all believe we are doing our best.
